In the 21st Century, Women in business succeed like never before.

The role of women in business has changed significantly over the past decade or so. Women are now being accepted and respected in what were once regarded as traditional male roles. A lot of these women are surpassing all expectations. However, many would be business owners, hesitate to follow their dreams because of a lack of belief in themselves. They have a great idea yet they allow their fear and self doubt to stop them from pursuing their passions.

A lot of women underestimate the advantage that being a woman in business gives us. Generally women are more trusted than men overall. Most business transactions are negotiated and accepted with a high degree of trust required. As women in business this puts us at an immediate advantage. Women are regarded as honest and trustworthy. As homemakers we are usually great time managers and good at delegating and budgeting. These traits have seen women become more competitive and successful in business in recent years. So does being a woman in business guarantee your success? Unfortunately not. But successful business women and men too, do have the following things in common.

A passion for what they are doing

You should be knowledgeable about your product or service. But you should also be passionate about it. This is very important. Don’t venture into a business opportunity only for the financial gains that you expect to make. Operating your own business takes a huge commitment. You can expect to invest a lot of time and often money before you begin to see any reward for your effort. If you are not passionate about what you are doing you will easily lose interest before you start to see results.

They surround themselves with great people

Successful business owners realise that to truly succeed in business they must hire great staff. You and your business will never reach your full potential if you do not progress beyond a one or two person operation.

They manage their resources effectively

One of the major reasons for business failure is poor financial management. Even profitable businesses can run into problems if they do not implement an effective business record keeping system.
